About the Choir:
Through 34 years, Tapestry Chamber Choir has performed three or more concerts per year for the Aurora and Newmarket areas of York Region. Originally named “York Classics Ensemble”, the choir was founded in 1987 by Marie Devereux as a chamber choir made up of experienced local musicians

Since then, the choir, averaging 25 singers, became more established under the leadership of successive Music Directors: Andrew Slonetsky 1988 – 2009; Tony Browning 2009 – 2016; Michael Morgan 2017; Trevor Dearham 2018 to 2023

The Choir typically performs in the Newmarket area. However, concerts through the years have seen Tapestry performances in Sharon, Aurora, Mount Albert, Port Hope, Sibbald Point, Thornhill, Barrie, Midland, King City, and The Foster Memorial in Uxbridge.

The Tapestry collaboration with the York Chamber Ensemble has continued through many seasons.
